West Maui Conference on
Pacific Peoples and their Environments
2017

Directions

Almost all visitors to Maui arrive at the Kahului International Airport (OGG) in Central Maui. Most international flights connect through Honolulu. For suggested travel routes, consider http://www.rome2rio.com or http://maps.google.com.

Lahaina is an approximately 45 minute drive from Kahului Airport by car. Maui has public and private-hire transportation options from the airport to West Maui although taxi-cab and share-riding services from areas outside West Maui to West Maui are expensive given the distances involved (at least 25 miles). Those staying in Lahaina town can reach the conference site by a short walk. All others will need motorized transportation.

The conference hopes to establish transportation coordination for those participants staying outside of Lahaina and West Maui via carpooling with other conference participants and volunteers. Please inform conference organizers if you would like to be included in the planning of the transportation coordination process.

Accommodations

West Maui includes the towns of Lahaina, Kaanapali, Honokowai, Mahinahina, Kahana, Napili and Kapalua (among others). Travel time within West Maui areas to Lahaina town range from 5 to 20 minutes.
